Of the 12 different white villages we visited in Spain, we spent the most time in Ronda. And we definitely didn’t regret that decision. It is such a picturesque place with surprises around every corner. We spent our week in Ronda doing a lot of wandering, finding the best viewpoints and, best of all, taking time to relax and have a drink. Which led to this list of the 9 best bars in Ronda.

Some we chose for the view, some for the amazing tapas and some for just watching the world go by.

9 Best Places in Ronda for a Drink

In no particular order, here are our favourite Ronda bars:

Hotel Catalonia Rooftop

If you are looking for a drink with a view the Hotel Catalonia rooftop terrace is the best bar in Ronda. Try to get there for sunset, although the view over the bullring to the hills is good all day long.

Sunset at one of the best bars in Ronda

It gets quite busy at sunset so stake out your spot on the edge early. Or try out the comfy chairs to the side and hang out for a while.

This views, the rooftop bar and gorgeous pool are also among the reasons the Hotel Catalonia made our list of the 15 Best Hotels in Ronda.

Plaza del Sorocco

The Plaza del Sorocco actually has many bars in its large open area that is dominated by Nuestra Senora del Socorro church.

Church and best bars in Ronda

We tried a couple and didn’t find that the service was particularly good at either, though the beer tasted just fine once we got it. We would probably suggest Taperia Las Campanas but, either way, you can’t beat the atmosphere and the chance to watch the tourists and locals pass by.

Beer and a church

Puente Nuevo

Ronda is justifiably famous for its amazing Puente Nuevo, often just referred to as the Ronda Bridge. We spent a lot of time finding all the Best Viewpoints of Ronda’s Puente Nuevo and one of our favorites was from our Airbnb apartment.

Of course, not everyone can rent this place but you can get almost identical views from the Don Miguel Restaurant just below our deck. The views are not just of the new bridge but also down the canyon to the old bridge and the rolling hills of the countryside beyond.

Drink with a view in Ronda

Restaurante El Campillo

Once you have taken the trail down to the most popular Ronda Bridge mirador and made the long climb back up you will probably be ready for a refreshing beverage. At the top of the trail is the restaurante El Campillo with some welcoming shade under its colorful umbrellas.

It gets busy as you might expect since many people tend to have the same idea.

Beer on a table

Plaza Ruedo Alameda

A bit out of the main part of town but it is a really nice wander down through the old town to get to the Plaza Ruedo Alameda. Again there are a few choices here but we liked Almocabar Restaurant for the view of the old wall and gate (Puerto de Almocabar). There is some traffic but it is still a great place to relax under the trees.

Beer with a castle behind

Bar Sánchez

If you’d like to see the old wall and gate from the other side without the traffic, check out Bar Sanchez.

Outdoor bar

Alameda del Tajo

Just outside of the Alameda del Tajo with its cool greenery and scenic viewpoints are a couple bars to take a break at, including the relaxed Restaurante Los Capeas. And you can entertain yourself by watching the staff adroitly serve patrons while crossing a relatively busy street.

Bar in Ronda by a statue

Plaza Duquesa de Parcent

The plaza is another great spot to find a cool place in the shade and enjoy the views of the Santa Maria la Mayor church. We choose the Cerveceria Mondragon. After you finish your drink, for a small fee you can climb to the top of the chuch tower for the views over Ronda.

Bar El Lechuguita

This bar is famous for its varied and remarkably cheap tapas. It is an institution in Ronda and the queues attest to its popularity.
